Huntsville Jumper Resources

The TVDCTA is proud to announce that we will be holding Jumper classes in addition to our Dressage and Combined Training Classes this year!

Our jumps will be laid out in such a way to provide level-appropriate courses for each group. We strive to provide a safe, fun and challenging course for each level and to foster a positive show environment for horses and riders.  At the end of the day, we just want you to have fun!

Jumper classes will run after the Combined Training Classes have finished. All classes will consist of one round with a generous optimum time. In Green Jumpers and above, after all of the rounds in the class are complete, competitors who posted a fault-free round under the optimum time will complete a timed jump-off round where the rider with the fastest clear round to determine the placings. Should the jump judge determine that a rider is riding dangerously in an effort to have a very fast jump-off round, he/she will blow the whistle and that rider will be eliminated. Please reference the USEF Rules for Jumping for a definition of dangerous riding.

We award penalties in accordance with USEF guidelines for Eventing and Jumping, but have added a couple.  In Amoeba, Tadpole, and their corresponding Jumper classes, there is no elimination for going off course; instead, 20 penalties are assessed. In Starter, Green Jumpers, and above, the penalty is elimination.  We have also added a 40 penalty warning system for riding deemed dangerous by the judge (for Starter and below). This is in place primarily for the Jump-Offs to encourage more enthusiastic and less-knowledgeable riders to go for more than just speed in their jump off rounds. Riding deemed dangerous to the horse and rider in divisions higher than Starter will result in elimination.
